Have you been to Sato Land? If you are not local or not Japanese perhaps you may miss it and this would be a shame. You should try and travel to Sato Land from the main station. By local bus it is about 25 minutes. It was here that we were able to make snowmen and slide the large ice slides and walk through a giant ice maze. It was a freezing cold day of about negative seven degrees.
Satoland replaced the Makomanai military base in 2006 as the third festival site.
The snow slides and other attractions are put together by volunteers and community groups. Because of the giant slides, Sato Land has become a popular site for children and families.
